MISSION
To empower young people with the knowledge, skills and tools to drive informed health and environmental solutions within their communities.
Meet the Founder
Phillip Andrew Mwebaza is the founder and driving force behind AFHEG Foundation. Watching his mother dedicate her life as a nurse inspired him to make health knowledge accessible and exciting for everyone, especially young people in Uganda and across Africa. As a multi-media journalist with a strong background in creative storytelling and content production, Phillip honed his skills in turning complex information into compelling, understandable narratives.
He holds a certification in health literacy from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and specialized training in policy development and advocacy for global health from the University of Washington. These credentials, combined with his journalism experience, equipped him to build AFHEG as a platform for innovative, evidence-based health education.
When young people become health literate, amazing things happen. They make smarter choices about their bodies and surroundings. They prevent diseases, avoid risky behaviors like unsafe relationships or substance use, manage stress better, and build stronger habits for life. They also share what they learn with friends, family, and communities, creating a ripple effect of healthier, more resilient groups.
